Primary election set for Tuesday

TIFTON — Georgia voters will head to the polls on Tuesday, May 22,
On the primary election ballot will be local elections for Tift County Board of Commissioners districts 1, 3, 4 and 6 and for Tift County Board of Education districts 2, 4, 5 and 6.

Voters will also be voting in the primaries for a Democratic and Republican candidate for several statewide offices, including governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, commissioner of agriculture, commissioner of insurance, state school superintendent and commissioner of labor.
For County Commission District 1, incumbent Donnie Hester (D) is being challenged by Raymond Teal Sr. (D).
Robert Setters (R), who holds the district 3 seat on the county commission, ibeing challenged by Tony McBrayer (R).
County Commission District 4 seat is a four way race, with incumbent Stan Stalnaker (R) being challenged by Jonathan Cassell (R), Jamie Cater (R) and Ronald Norman (R).
Greg Wood (R), district 6 county commissioner, is being challenged by Lester Potts (R).
The Tift County Board of Education also has three seats on the ballot.

The district 4 seat, currently held by Keith Barr, who is not running for reelection, is being sought by Richard Golden (R) and Jamie Hill (R).
Jarrett Haswell (R) and Sam Wright (R) are both running for the district 5 seat, which is currently held by Marian Richbourg, who is not running for reelection.
Melanie Roberson’s district 6 seat is being sought by Jimmy Cargle (R), Rusty Harrelson (R) and Jo Windom (R). Roberson is not running for reelection.
The state governor’s race is a full ticket this year.
For the Republicans, Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle, Hunter Hill, Secretary of State Brian Kemp, Clay Tippins and Michael Williams have qualified.
The Democrats are fielding Stacey Abrams and Stacey Evans.
For lieutenant governor, Democrats Sarah Riggs Amico and Triana Arnold James and Republicans Geoff Duncan, Rick Jeffares and David Shafer are running.
Democrats John Barrow, Dee Dawkins-Haigler and Rakeim “RJ” Hadley and Republicans Buzz Brockway, David Belle Isle, Josh McKoon and Brad Raffensperger are running for secretary of state.
Tift County Election Supervisor Leila Dollison said that registered voters should bring their ID and make sure they go to their assigned polling place in order to receive their correct ballot.
Voters can find which polling place they are assigned to either by visiting the My Voter Page website at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov or by calling the Tift County Board of Elections and Registration at (229) 386-7915.
Local polling places will be open on Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Polling locations are:
• 222 Chesnutt Avenue — Building B Old gym at the corner of 4th St and Chesnutt Avenue.
• 869 Harold Tyson Rd. — Corner of Old Ocilla Rd. and Harold Tyson Rd. Same building at Harding Volunteer fire station.
• 983 Lower Brookfield Rd. — Brookfield Volunteer Fire Station.
• 3380 US Highway 41 North, Chula — Tift County Fire Rescue Station 55.
• 14 Docia Rd. — Across from Excelsior Store on Ty Ty Omega Rd. Same building as Excelsior Fire Station.
• 4145 US Hwy 41 South — Same building as Eldorado Fire Station.
• 5471 Alabama Dr., Omega — Omega Club House.
• 141 Elman Street, Ty Ty — Ty Ty City Hall.
• 315 West 2nd St. — Leroy Rogers Senior Center.
• 2731 South Central Avenue — Neighbor Service Center.
• 2425 Emerson Obynes Avenue — Mott-Litman Gym.
• 1400 Kennedy Rd. — Tifton Lodge.
