THOMASVILLE, Ga. — After “another productive month,” the drug squad is seeing a trend of designer narcotics in arrests, the unit’s commander said at a recent drug commission meeting.

The Thomasville/Thomas County Narcotics/Vice Division had 64 cases in April, according to squad commander Louis Schofill.

“We had another busy month after last month’s record,” he said, referencing March’s 104 cases.

The trend of “exotic-type of drugs,” such as synthetic marijuana and bath salts, continued from March to April caseload, according to Schofill.

An April arrest, Schofill said, found a suspect in possession of synthetic marijuana, also called “butter.”

“There’s no plant life in it,” he said of synthetic marijuana, adding any amount is a felony.

April saw five “spice,” also synthetic marijuana, cases and five guns were recovered, according to the drug squad commander.

The narcotics/vice division also seized $1,590 in cash and two vehicles.

“We’re handling the cases as they come in,” Schofill said.
