Sheriff’s office deputies make 85 arrests in March

TIFTON — Sheriff Gene Scarbrough reported the following activity for March 2018.

He said that deputies arrested 85 people, some on multiple charges. He said that 38 charges of parole or probation violation were filed, 26 drug violation charges, 16 charges of failure to appear, 10 charges of crimes of against persons, 10 property crime charges, six obstruction of officers charges, four weapons charges, three child support violations and six other non-traffic charges.

Scarbrough said that deputies conducted 1,796 business and property checks, 585 mobile home park and subdivision checks, 132 school checks and answered 2,972 calls for service.  Deputies served 115 warrants, 88 civil papers, and 246 subpoenas.

Traffic stops lead to the filing of 29 charges of driving while license revoked or suspended four charges of driving under the influence, two drug charges and the arrests of three wanted people, according to Scarbrough

Scarborough said that deputies completed 550 incident reports, 48 accident reports, issued 1,007 traffic citations, 145 traffic warnings and verified the home addresses of 61 living in Tift County.

The sheriff said that deputies handled 80 transports totaling 256 hours and 6,987 miles.
