Roberts third at state gymnastics meet, Watson places

TIFTON — Elyssa Roberts took third in all-around competition Friday at the Georgia High School Association gymnastics championships and had strong finishes in all events.
Roberts totaled 36.95 points for the third place finish in all-around, where she trailed overall champion Savannah Schoenherr of North Oconee (39.40) and Brianna Greenlow of Lambert (38.525), according to results posted by the GHSA.
Schoenherr had the top score in every individual event, including a perfect 10 on floor exercise and a 9.95 on vault.
Roberts’ best score was on vault, where she earned a 9.625. Vault also saw Rylee Watson, the only other Gym Devil competing at state, finish sixth with a 9.35.
On bars, Roberts’ 9.375 gave her fourth place. She was fifth on balance beam with an 8.55 and sixth on floor exercise with a 9.40.
West Forsyth won the team competition for the second straight year.
