Two men arrested in meth investigation

LIVE OAK, Fla. —Two Live Oak men were arrested during an investigation into methamphetamine manufacturing March 23.
According to the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office, investigators conducted a narcotics investigation in the 7100 block of County Road 136A regarding the manufacture of methamphetamine.
The report states that information was obtained that Thomas Leahy, 43, had recently purchased pseudoephedrine for the purpose of manufacturing methamphetamine.
According to SCSO, a search of Leahy’s residence revealed Sudafed, a cold compress pack, lighter fluid and two double AA lithium batteries in his bedroom.
The report states the bedroom of Michael Cardona, 36, was searched and several lithium cell phone batteries, gloves and needle nose pliers were found on his bed.
According to SCSO, Cardona could not explain as to why he had these items.
The report states that when combined Sudafed (pseudoephedrine), the cold compress (ammonium salt), lighter fluid (organic solvent) and batteries (lithium) can be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Leahy and Cardona were charged with possession of listed chemicals with the intent to manufacture a controlled substance. Both of their bonds have been set at $5,000.
