According to a VPD press release, the police department obtained misdemeanor arrest warrants Tuesday for Taylor.

Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress stated the department reviewed the case with witness statements from the incident and business security videos. They also discussed the case with prosecutors and a judge.

“Based on that review, a magistrate judge determined there was probable cause that Mr. Taylor committed the offenses of pointing a pistol at another and reckless conduct,” Childress said in a statement.

The incident took place about 5 p.m. Saturday, March 17 at Jungle Jym’s, 3124 N. Oak St. Ext.

Police responded to the large family entertainment center regarding an allegation of someone pointing a pistol at another. When officers arrived, they spoke with a witness who told police the owner of the business pointed a pistol at her and her 13-year-old son during a dispute, the report states.

Since then, an investigation has been ongoing. Police gathered witness statements from the owner and several other patrons of the business, according to the report.

The report states the owner of the business is claiming the incident was self-defense. Since the incident, there have been multiple posts on social media regarding the matter and many residents contacted the police department about the matter.

In a previous release, Childress stated the VPD was treating the case like any other.
