UPDATED: Shots fired at north Georgia high school, no students injured

Update: 12:40 p.m. 

DALTON, Ga. — Dalton Police Department officers have a teacher in custody after shots were fired at Dalton High School this morning in north Georgia.

No children have been injured. The area inside the school has been evacuated and there are no students believed to be in the school at this time. The school is locked down.

Students are being taken to the Dalton Convention Center. Police are asking parents to go there and not go to Dalton High.

Shots fired at north Georgia high school, no students injured

DALTON, Ga. — Dalton police officers are at Dalton High School in north Georgia responding to a report of shots fired.

“At the time, there is a barricaded subject in a classroom,” according to a Dalton Police Department spokesperson. “Investigators believe it is a teacher.”
 
No children have been injured. The area inside the school has been evacuated and there are no students believed to be in the school at this time. The school is locked down.

The local police department and the Georgia State Patrol are on the scene.
