Student Amanda Mohammed has completed study abroad and her internship and is currently working on mentored research. Mohammed studied abroad in Rome, Italy. Afterward she interned at the U.S. embassy at the Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago.

“We are more than just a small campus, and our college is more than just an ag and natural resource school,” said Mohammed. “We have opportunities on campus to study and work all around the world.”

Dr. Tom Grant spoke to the board about the study abroad programs ABAC had to offer.

“I am only one of many of the ABAC faculty members that connect ABAC to the world,” said Grant. “They take students to Belize for environmental studies, Costa Rica for forestry and wildlife studies, and more. If you want, you can come with me to Oslo, Norway to study rock n’ roll.”

President David Bridges explained to the board that ABAC prepares their graduates for the real world.

“Our obligation as a public institution extends beyond the diploma,” Bridges said. “We must prepare students to be productive members in the community that they choose to live and work.”

Mathew Reed and Cindy Barber organized the presentation for ABAC.

“Cindy Barber and I did everything we could to show off a small campus in a big world in the presentation,” said Reed. “Those faculty and students who presented did an incredible job at showing them what being a small campus in a big world feels like.”

Members of the board told Reed that they are not used to exciting presentations, and they were very impressed with how well ABAC did with the presentation. “For them to see what we are doing now, has shown them that ABAC is a force to be reckoned with in the state of Ga.”

ABAC faculty presenters included ABAC President Dr. David Bridges, Dr. Jason Scott, Dr. Leslie Pryor, and Dr. Tom Grant. The student presenters were Amanda Mohammed, Harrison Booker, and Jovani Raya.
