While some girls danced solo or with friends, others cut a rug with their dad.

TIFTON — The Tiftarea YMCA 16th Annual Father Daughter Dance on Feb. 15 drew in girls of all ages, fathers in tow.

The Rapunzel theme was on display with hanging lanterns, a tower and purple decorations, flowers and lights.

Jason Bishoff, sports and program director for Tiftarea YMCA, said that approximately 800 people attended the dance this year.

The Key Club at Tiftarea Academy did face painting and the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Ambassadors and Cultura Latina Club volunteered as well.

Vanessa Ortiz and father Juan volunteered to make balloon shapes at the dance.

Planttel Communications donated an American Girl doll, Griffin Lumber donated a power saw and Roberts Jewelry donated pearl earrings, all of which were raffled off at the dance.

Money raised goes to support scholarships for YMCA youth programs.

“It goes into scholarships for youth sports, after school programs, summer camps,” said Bishoff. “It all goes back to the youth in the community.”
