THOMASVILLE — Andee Keown’s dance card in February is always full for one special person.
Saturday will mark the fourth year Keown, 5, has been attending the annual Father-Daughter Dance with her great-grandfather Jim Taylor, 81.
Keown’s father and grandfather, Taylor pointed out, don’t dance.
“So it was left up to me take her to the dance,” he said.
Despite Keown moving to Atlanta with her family two years ago, the pair still attend the annual dance together, Taylor said.
Before the move, Keown spent a lot of time in Taylor’s West Jackson Street barbershop. The two often made up their own dances in the shop, Taylor recalled.
“She was raised in that barbershop,” he added.
Keown said her favorite part of the annual event is “dancing with Papa.”
Keown also likes her dress for the dance this year, which is similar to her first father-daughter dance dress.
“It is a pretty dress,” she said.
Taylor said his favorite part is “just getting out there on the floor and dancing” with Keown.
“As long as she wants to go and I’m able, I’ll take her,” Taylor added.
