- Forget Self-Help.
In “Forget Self-Help: Re-Examining the Golden Rule,” author Thomas Fellows makes a powerful argument that helping others is the best way to help one’s self.
Fellows grounds the theme of the book in examples from his life, experiences and observations he’s made.
But the book’s foundation relies on anecdotes from the pages of Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird” and Harriet Beecher Stowe’s “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” and to a lesser degree from the lives of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert E. Lee.
Fellows extols the virtues of main characters from the books, respectively Southern attorney Atticus Finch and Tom. Fellows cites passages that bolster his argument based on the Golden Rule.
By doing unto others as we’d have them do unto us, Fellows cites examples that positively doing unto others creates a better us.
“Forget Self-Help” is an unforgettable volume.
His book is available in Tifton at Walls of Books, The Hummingbird and Roberts Jewelers.
