Valdosta gas prices keep sliding

VALDOSTA — Gasoline prices in Valdosta continued a weeks-long trend of sliding last week, according to statistics.
The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the city Sunday was $2.29, down from $2.32 the previous Sunday, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
The lowest price for fuel reported in Valdosta Sunday was $2.17 per gallon at a West Hill Avenue retailer, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com. The highest price reported to gasbuddy Sunday in Valdosta was $2.37 per gallon at a Northside Drive location. Not all retail prices are reported to gasbuddy, which depends on volunteer reporters.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline Sunday as $2.47, down a penny from the previous week, while Georgia’s average of $2.33 was down by two cents in the same period, according to the auto club.
In Friday market action, benchmark U.S. crude gained 67 cents to settle at $57.36 per barrel. Brent crude, the international standard, rose $1.20 to $63.40 per barrel. That helped energy stocks in the S&P 500 rise 0.9 percent.
Natural gas added a penny to $2.77 per 1,000 cubic feet, heating oil gained 3 cents to $1.93 per gallon and wholesale gasoline added 2 cents to $1.72 per gallon.
