THOMASVILLE — A Meigs man was arrested and charged with terroristic threats following a statement of bringing harm to a church, according to authorities. 

Charles Harmon Gilbreath, 7052 West Marshall St., was arrested following authorities receiving a report of a statement he made to a family member, according to Lt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator. 

“He wanted to do the same thing that had been done in the Sutherland, Texas church,” Watkins said of what was relayed to law enforcement.  

The family member was interviewed and verified the statement, Watkins said. 

Thomas County Sheriff’s Office requested help from the Meigs Police Department to locate Gilbreath. The small Thomas County town’s police transported Gilbreath to the Thomas County Jail. 

Watkins noted that during an interview with Gilbreath, an Iraq war veteran, the suspect said he suffered from post traumatic stress disorder. Gilbreath also stated in the interview he had no intentions of harming anyone.
