VALDOSTA — Two people were hospitalized Thursday following a late-night shooting in Valdosta, say police.

Officers responded to the 500 block of Hudson Street following a 911 call about gunshots, said Lt. Adam Bembry of the Valdosta Police Department.

When police arrived, they found two people in the street suffering from gunshot wounds, he said. A man had been shot in the torso while a woman had been hit in the lower leg, Bembry said.

Both were given first aid by police, then taken by EMTs to the hospital, where the man is in serious condition and the woman is listed in good condition, he said.

Detectives are gathering witness accounts and physical evidence, Bembry said. No arrests have been made and there are no suspects at the moment, he said. 

“The Valdosta Police Department is asking all persons that have knowledge of this incident to contact VPD immediately,” he said.
