Valdosta gas prices slide again

VALDOSTA — Gasoline prices in Valdosta continued their long, slow slide last week.

The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in the city Sunday was $2.30, down a penny from seven weeks earlier, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

The lowest gas price in Valdosta Sunday was $2.22 per gallon at a West Hill Avenue location, while the highest was $2.31 a gallon, also on West Hill Avenue, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com. Gasbuddy depends on volunteers reporting gas prices; some retailers not included in the report may have higher or lower prices.

Nationally, the average price for gasoline Sunday was $2.53 per gallon, up seven cents from a week earlier, while Georgia’s average of $2.35 was down one cent in the same period, according to the auto club.

In Friday’s market action, benchmark U.S. crude jumped $1.10 to $55.64 per barrel, its highest settlement price since July 2015. Brent crude, the international standard, rose $1.45 to $62.07.

Natural gas rose 5 cents to $2.98 per 1,000 cubic feet, heating oil gained 3 cents to $1.89 per gallon and wholesale gasoline climbed 2 cents to $1.79 per gallon.
