Herndon – McPhail

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mills Herndon of Thomasville, Georgia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Herndon, to James Britton McPhail of Augusta, Georgia. Mr. McPhail is a son of Doctors Franklin Edward and Nanci Platt McPhail, also of Augusta.

The bride-elect is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilson McKinnon, Jr. of Thomasville and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Randall Herndon of Macon, Georgia.

Miss Herndon graduated from Brookwood School in Thomasville in 2011, and she received a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sports Science in 2015, from the University of Georgia, graduating magna cum laude.

She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Currently, she lives in Augusta where she is a third year student at Augusta University in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. She will graduate in May of 2018.

Mr. McPhail is a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Edward McPhail, Mrs. Samuel Britton Platt III, and the late Mr. Platt.

He graduated in 2010 from Westminster Schools of Augusta and received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2014 from Georgia College and State University, graduating magna cum laude. Currently, he is a fourth year medical student at the Medical College of Georgia where he will graduate in May of 2018. He plans to continue his medical career after graduation with a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology.  

The wedding will take place at the First United Methodist Church in Thomasville, Georgia, on December 30, 2017.
