THOMASVILLE — Two drug arrests involving a Thomasville man and woman were the result of a months-long investigation, authorities said.
Rodney Vince Lewis, 48, and Juanita Maria Molina, 37, both of Ring Oak Drive, were arrested on methamphetamine charges on two separate dates, according to Louis Schofill, Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division commander.
Schofill said drug squad agents were familiar with both from past dealings.
Lewis was arrested Monday after agents received information he was in possession of methamphetamine.
Surveillance was set up and narcotics agents conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of East Jackson Street.
Lewis, driving a Chevy Tahoe, handed an amount of methamphetamine to a female passenger, Schofill said.
“Agents discovered the drugs on her and arrested him and her,” Schofill said, adding Lewis later admitted the drugs belonged to him.
The female was released on scene. Lewis was later granted bond and was already out on another bond from a previous methamphetamine charge.
Molina was arrested Oct. 12.
Agents conducted surveillance in an area of Oak Hill Road and initiated a traffic stop on Molina, driving a 2006 Ford 500.
Agents asked if drugs were present in the vehicle.
“She stated she had just a little bit,” Schofill said.
A search was conducted.
“They found a used syringe in the car and then agents eventually found methamphetamine hidden the dashboard of the vehicle,” Schofill said.
A half-ounce of methamphetamine was recovered, which nets a $300 street value, according to a Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division agent.
According to Schofill, the investigation determined the vehicle Molina was driving was purchased by Lewis.
“Both vehicles have been seized,” Schofill said of the drug arrests.
Lewis was charged with possession/distribution/sale of methamphetamine.
Molina was charged possession of methamphetamine and two counts of possession and use of drug related objects. Arrested back in August for a methamphetamine charge, Molina also was out on bond, the drug squad commander said.
