Immediately following the ceremony, the winners will join other parade participants as the 38th Annual Mini-marathon parade winds its way through downtown. Leading the parade this year are three parade marshals — Al Bruce, Keith Huddleston and Jerry Alderman. These three longtime friends have written and published a book about growing up in a small rural town; entitled “Coming of Age in Boston, GA” the book gives the reader an intimate look into their lives and the community. The authors will be available after the parade at the Information Booth to talk about their book and sign copies.
There is no fee to enter the parade; however, preregistration is required. A registration form is available on Boston’s website, www.bostonga.com, or for more information about the parade, call Danny Groover at (229) 498-4065 or (229) 224-6201.

At 3 p.m., the winners of the Best BBQ Butt in Boston Cook-off will be announced.
The weekend of festivities concludes Sunday afternoon with a trail ride sponsored by South Georgia Equestrian Association. Shannell Roberts chairs the event this year; for details, call (229) 977-6152.

Proceeds are used to maintain the community center on Main Street and for other local events, including the Spring Fling, which is always the Saturday before Easter.
