Reed Bingham State Park plans a busy October

REED BINGHAM STATE PARK — Reed Bingham State Park has announced plans for multiple events in October, with something going on every Saturday of the month and some other days besides.

The park, located off Highway 37 on the Colquitt-Cook county line, will start things off this Saturday, Oct. 7, with the annual Rivers Alive! Volunteer Day. Volunteers should meet at the park office at 9 a.m. to get started on needed work around the park.

Also Saturday will be the Shells and Scales Reptile Show at 2:30 p.m. at the stage and the Couples Paddle at 6:15 p.m. at the Colquitt County boat ramp. Pre-registration is required for the Couples Paddle, and there’s a $24 program fee.

To register for any event that requires it, call the front office at (229) 896-3551. Questions about any event can be directed to the same number.

All fee-based programs must have a minimum of four participants.

Saturday, Oct. 14

• 10 a.m., Pontoon Boat Tour. Pre-registration required; cost is $10 for adults and $8 for children.

• 2:30 p.m., Halloween Pine Cone Craft, at the stage for $3.

• 6 p.m., Pumpkin Carving and Painting, at the stage for $5.

Friday, Oct. 20

• 5:30 p.m., Mini-Golf Tournament, at the mini-golf course for $6.

Saturday, Oct. 21

• 7:15 a.m., Sunrise Paddle, at the Colquitt County boat ramp. Pre-registration is required with at $15 program fee.

• 10 a.m., Pontoon Boat Tour. Pre-registration is required with $10 for adults and $8 for children.

• 2:30 p.m., Pine Needle Basket Weaving, at the stage for $5.

• 6:30 p.m., Pontoon Boat Tour. Pre-registration is required with $10 for adults and $8 for children.

Friday, Oct. 27

• 6:30-10 p.m., Twisted Tales and Haunted Trails Hayride. $3 per person.

Saturday, Oct. 28

• 10 a.m., Pontoon Boat Tour. Pre-registration is required with $10 for adults and $8 for children.

• 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Halloween Carnival and Trunk or Treat at the ballfield.

• 6:30-10 p.m., Twisted Tales and Haunted Trails Hayride. $3 per person.
