Central softball edges Lowndes

THOMASVILLE — Thomas County Central softball avenged a loss to Lowndes from last week, taking a slim 2-1 win on the road against the Vikettes on Monday.
The Yellow Jackets scored its only two runs early. Katelyn Hobbs scored on an error in the second, and Leila Hurst added a key triple in the third to score Madeline Parker.
A home run from Lowndes’ Sophie Sumner in the top of the fourth cut the Central lead to 2-1. Yellow Jacket pitcher Brianna Doughty held on to the one-run advantage, completing the game by allowing the single run.
Anna Greek went 2-for-3 with a double. Doughty struck out four and allowed seven hits over seven innings.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to play Bainbridge today, and will host Veterans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
