At least eight people were fatally shot at a home in Plano, Texas, on Sunday night, including the suspect, who was reportedly killed by a police officer, according to authorities in North Texas.
Officials were called to the suburban home, north of Dallas, just after 8 p.m., after a report of gunshots being fired. An officer entered the home and “observed several victims inside,” before confronting the suspect and shooting him, Plano police spokesman Dave Tilley told the Dallas Morning News.
Two other people found injured at the home were transferred to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown. All those killed and injured were believed to be adults, but none has been identified, the Associated Press reported.
Police haven’t determined a motive for the shooting, AP reported. Neighbors told the Morning News the violence broke out as people were watching a Dallas Cowboys football game, but police did not confirmed that.
The Texas Ranger Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety was also on the scene, Tilley told USA Today. The case remains under investigation.
The officer who shot the suspect was placed on administrative leave pending the investigation, as is protocol.
