Valdosta Chief of Police Brian Childress released the following statement Sunday afternoon: 

“Messages have been sent to our citizens via press releases, emails and social media posts asking Valdosta area residents to stay off the roads all Monday morning and Monday afternoon.

 

“Based on a tremendous positive response by the public, we are at this time not initiating a mandatory curfew for the City of Valdosta.

 

“Again we are advising everyone to remain home all day Monday. If you live in a mobile home or recreational vehicle, please move to one of the open shelters.”
