Hurricane Condition 5 means the potential for winds in excess of 50 knots are possible within 96 hours, according to the base. The measure is being taken for units to be prepared for any possible impacts from Hurricane Irma.

The base was not evacuating any personnel Thursday based on weather forecasts.

Moody leadership opted to relocate any aircraft unable to be stored inside Moody’s aircraft hangars to prevent potential damage from the storm. In addition to relocating aircraft, the base is securing all outdoor equipment as a precautionary safety measure, according to the statement.
