In great anticipation of this year’s One Book week, the committee is holding One Cork, the annual wine and cheese kickoff event, on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Bookshelf.
This year’s speaker will be author Cassandra King, Pat Conroy’s wife. A lover of southern literature, King will share her thoughts about southern storytelling and Terry Kay’s contributions to this genre.
“We’re thrilled to kick off this year’s One Book celebration with a visit from Cassandra King Conroy,” said Annie Jones, owner of The Bookshelf. “Cassandra is a staunch advocate of Southern literature, and like so many of our readers, she’s a big fan of Terry Kay and “To Dance with the White Dog.” She’ll be the perfect voice to guide our reading and get us started on this year’s One Book selection.”
Become acquainted with this year’s author, Terry Kay, and his work “To Dance with the White Dog.” Enjoy wine from Farmer’s Daughter Vineyards, and celebrate the fifth annual One Book Community Read. The official One Book week begins Sept. 28 with One Word.
