One Book Week 2017 is right around the corner. To celebrate this year’s selection, “To Dance with the White Dog” by Terry Kay, join us at The Bookshelf for One Cork, our annual wine and cheese event. Cassandra King, Pat Conroy’s wife, will discuss the importance of southern storytelling and Terry Kay’s contribution to this genre.

The Thomas County Public Library System will be closed Saturday, Sept. 2 through Monday, Sept. 4. We will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

“We’re Bookin’ It” will meet at the library on Monday, Sept. 11, at 5 p.m. in the Conference Room. Visitors and new members are always welcome. “The Light Between Oceans” by M.L. Stedman will be discussed.

Come visit our Book Sale Room on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Your donations benefit your library.

Become a member of the Friends of the Library today. We have forms for 2017 membership available at our front desk. Your participation helps the library with programming, books and other materials added to the library.

• Every Monday in August, join us in the Makerspace at 4 p.m. for painting, coding, crafts and much more!

• Wednesday After School — Scavenger Hunt. Charlie the Gnome lost his Pokémon. Help him find all eight by following the clues. Do you have what it takes to find them all?

• Toddler Time will be back in August! Children ages 2-4 years old can enjoy stories, songs and fingerplays every Thursday morning at 10:30am. Our next get-together will be on August 24.

• Cuddle Time will be back next month every Friday at 10:30 a.m.! Cuddle Time is for infants from birth to 24 months of age and their caregivers. Enjoy nursery rhymes, fingerplays, board books, bounces, and activity songs with your baby! We will meet again on August 25.

• Get ready for LEGO Club! Join us every Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Storyroom and build something awesome with your friends.

• Check out Bee 4 the Classroom at the downtown library the second Tuesday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Our next meeting will be Sept. 12. Sponsored by the Thomas County School System Striving Readers Grant.
