Gasoline prices keep creeping up in South Georgia

VALDOSTA, Ga. — The price of gasoline in Valdosta inched upward last week, according to statistics.
A gallon of regular gasoline cost an average of $2.17 in the city Sunday, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
The lowest price reported in Valdosta Sunday was $2.07 at three locations across the city, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy. The highest price reported to gasbuddy was $2.29 at a retailer on Northside Drive.
Not all retailers’ prices are listed on gasbuddy; the website largely depends on reports from motoring volunteers.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline Sunday was $2.35, unchanged from a week before, according to the auto club. Georgia’s average gas price of $2.23 was also unchanged in that period, said AAA.
In Friday market action, benchmark U.S. crude rose 23 cents to settle at $48.82 a barrel on the on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude, used to price international oils, rose 20 cents to $52.10 a barrel in London.
In other energy futures trading, wholesale gasoline rose 1 cent to $1.61 a gallon, while heating oil was little changed at $1.63 a gallon. Natural gas was also flat at $2.98 per 1,000 cubic feet.
