THOMASVILLE — A 39-year-old Thomas County man has been arrested twice this month for methamphetamine offenses and bonded out of the Thomas County Jail both times.
James Michael Wilson Jr. was arrested July 9 and charged with methamphetamine possession. He was accused of selling the drug in the parking lot of a U.S. 19 South motel.
“He had approximately 10 grams (of meth) with a street value of about $300,” a narcotics agent said after the arrest.
Digital scales and a glass smoking pipe were in Wilson’s possession, according to authorities.
“He’s a dealer. He was there to sell,” the agent said.
Ten days later, Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division agents were told Wilson would deliver methamphetamine to someone in the parking lot.
“We set up surveillance in the 19/319 area and saw him walking toward the business,” said Louis Schofill, narcotics/vice division commander. “He had 25 grams of meth on him.”
Wilson was transported to jail and released the next day on a $15,000 bond.
Said Schofill, “He local. He’s not a flight risk.”
Some people are willing to risk health and freedom for drugs, Schofill said.
“In general, a lot of people who sell drugs also use drugs, so they sell to support their habit,” he said.
