The lowest price for gasoline in the city Sunday was reported at $2.09 at two locations, one on U.S. 84 and the other on Baytree Road, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com. A third gas station, on the Madison Highway, was listed by gasbuddy as offering fuel for $2.09 a gallon on a cash-only basis.

The highest price reported in Valdosta Sunday was $2.29 at a retailer on Northside Drive.

Because gasbuddy depends on voluntary reporting by drivers, it is possible for other businesses to offer higher or lower prices and not be listed online because no one has reported them to gasbuddy’s website.

Nationally, the average price of gasoline Sunday was $2.38 a gallon, down a penny from seven days earlier, while Georgia’s average of $2.22 was down from $2.23 during the same period, the auto club said.

In Friday market action, benchmark U.S. crude oil fell 70 cents, or 1.4 percent, to settle at $47.66 per barrel. Brent crude, used to price international oils, sank 68 cents to $49.95 per barrel.
