Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, along with Sens. Dean Burke, Jack Hill and Renee Unterman, held the second meeting of Georgia’s Health Care Reform Task Force. They were joined by health care experts Melissa Haberlen, senior research associate at the Georgia Health Policy Center, and Dr. Patricia Ketsche, fellow at the Georgia Health Policy Center, as members of the task force discussed Georgia’s future as a leader in advancing patient-centered health care reforms. 

“Over the next year, we will host meetings with health care stakeholders across our state as we continue to move towards a more innovative, sustainable, and affordable system for Georgians,” said Cagle. “Our ultimate goal is to lead a better and fairer market place, control the costs of premiums and deductibles, while ensuring that all Georgians have access to quality care statewide.”

The Georgia Health Policy Center, established in 1995 at Georgia State University, provides evidence-based research, program development, and policy guidance to improve health status at the community level.

“In line with its mission, the Georgia Health Policy Center offers objective information on health policy, financing, and insurance coverage to key stakeholders, including to the Georgia General Assembly,” said Dr. Karen Minyard, CEO of the Georgia Health Policy Center. “As such, GHPC is committed to providing the Senate’s Health Care Reform Task Force with neutral, nonpartisan thought partnership and research support, including federal health reform updates and translation, Georgia-specific data and analysis, and focused briefings and reports on identified health sub-topics.”

Georgia’s Health Care Reform Task Force will continue to host meetings across the state in the coming months.
