Meigs approves CHIP grant resolution

MEIGS — The City of Meigs is moving forward to providing aid for repair to residents’ homes.

On Monday, the Meigs City Council unanimously approved a resolution for qualifications and policy for the city’s Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP) grant.

Mayor pro tem Dorothy Wimes updated those in attendance on the qualifications for the grant. 

The City of Meigs is set to receive $306,000 in grant funds. 

In other business, the council: 

Most Popular

•discussed two bids for floor repair at the Meigs Community Center and is waiting for a third bid 

•briefly discussed the possibility of changing the city’s fiscal year to match the state’s fiscal year 

•heard an update on an upcoming event from the city’s recreation department 

•briefly discussed the status of GPS units in Meigs Police Department’s vehicles 

•set two workshop dates on police department discussion and ordinance discussion for the city’s park for May 18, 5:30 p.m. (police) and May 25, 5:30 p.m. (park), both at the Meigs Community Center
