Thomasville soccer teams grab first-round playoff wins

THOMASVILLE — Thomasville’s soccer teams will be moving on to the second round of the state playoffs.

The girls hosted Dodge County, taking a 3-1 win at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Meanwhile, the boys traveled to East Laurens and won on the road, winning 4-2.

Margo Rainey led the Bulldog girls against the Indians, scoring three goals for the hat trick. Addie Rinehart notched an assist for Rainey’s second score of the game.

“The first game of the playoffs, a lot of times kids can be really nervous,” Thomasville girls soccer coach Kelli Fitzgerald said. “They settled down and they played well. Margo Rainey had a great game. We talked about finishing our chances last time, and she did.”

On the boys side, Luke Wallace scored two, while Nicholas Peralta and Liam Foster added two more goals to earn the win.

Both teams will travel to North Georgia to take on Model — The girls on May 2 and the boys on May 3.
