Gas prices keep inching downward

VALDOSTA, Ga. — Gasoline prices in Valdosta continued their long, slow slide last week.

The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Valdosta Sunday was $2.13, down a penny from the previous week, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

The lowest price for gasoline reported in the city Sunday was $2.02 at a West Hill Avenue retailer, according to the price tracking website gasbuddy.com. The highest price was $2.25 at a store on Cat Creek Road, gasbuddy said.

Nationally, the average price of fuel Sunday was $2.29, down a penny from the previous Sunday, while Georgia’s average of $2.17 dropped two cents in the same period, the auto club said.

In Friday’s market action, benchmark U.S. crude added 7 cents to $48.82 a barrel. It had slipped 11 cents to settle at $48.75 per barrel Thursday, the eighth drop in nine days. 

Brent crude, which is used to price international oils, gained 4 cents to $51.78 a barrel.
