THOMASVILLE — A fourth suspect in a bold Monday night Thomasville armed robbery was captured in Moultrie late Thursday morning.
The suspect, Paul Edward Dawson Jr., 20, 319 First St. N.W., Moultrie, will be charged, along with three others, in the armed robbery of the owner of an East Jackson Street convenience store.
“He (Dawson) was picked up in Moultrie by the Moultrie Police Department,” Steven Jones, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office public information officer, said.
Dawson was returned to Thomas County immediately and was being interviewed by sheriff’s office and Thomasville police investigators early Tuesday afternoon.
The three others, all of Moultrie, were denied bond and remain in the Thomas County Jail. They are charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping.
The three suspects led sheriff’s office deputies on a chase on U.S. 84 East, attempting several times to force officers off the road. A deputy forced the getaway car off the road. The silver Honda crashed on private property.
The victim, in possession of an undetermined amount of cash, was forced off North Pinetree Boulevard after he closed the business and was robbed at gunpoint about 11:30 p.m. Monday.
The fourth suspect is believed to have gotten out of the Honda on Libby Lane. The cash has not been recovered.
One firearm has been recovered. Jones said others are being sought.
Suspects are believed to be responsible for a pattern of armed robberies in Thomasville and Tifton in recent weeks and in Moultrie earlier.
