INDIANAPOLIS — The owner of the Indianapolis Colts football team and a recently retired player are donating nearly $100,000 to a reward fund for information in an investigation of the murders of two Indiana teenagers.
Former punter Pat McAfee announced on Twitter Wednesday that he and team owner Jim Irsay would donate $97,000 toward the reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect or suspects in the killings of Abigail “Abby” Williams, 13, and Liberty “Libby” German, 14.
The teens were found dead near Deer Creek in northern Indiana on Valentine’s Day. They were reported missing the day before after going for a hike near a bridge about half a mile downstream from where their bodies were found.
In the two weeks since, investigators from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police and the FBI have interviewed hundreds of people in connection with the case. But amid rumors on social media Tuesday, Indiana State Police Sgt. Tony Slocum confirmed that no arrests have been made.
According to the Logansport, Indiana Pharos-Tribune, Slocum stated on Twitter that “investigators are still working hard” on the double-murder investigation, adding that over 9,300 tips have been received.
McAfee appeared in a video clip with Indiana State Police Superintendent to make the announcement, which was posted Wednesday morning to social media.
