Burglar takes loot worth $21,000

MOULTRIE, Ga. — A burglar who struck Thursday at a house on Funston-Doerun Road made off with a haul totaling more than $21,000, counting a stolen pickup truck that later was found abandoned on the side of a roadway.

Joyce Massey, of the 900 block of Mike Horne Road, Doerun, reported that Kevin Tumlim’s residence in the 1700 block of Funston-Doerun Road was the target of the burglary.

Massey was not able to immediately give police a total report on the property stolen from Tumlin. The Chevrolet Silverado taken from the residence was found abandoned near the intersection of Highway 33 North and Old State Route 33, police said.

Among the other stolen items were cans containing some $100 in coins, a Samsung plasma flat screen television, two $100 gift cards, a signed baseball from the 1940s, antique China plate, two hunting jackets, a 1989 Colquitt County High School ring with blue stone, Winchester .22-caliber ammunition, Polaroid camera, two spinning hunting buckets, pain medication and an antique electric video game of unknown value.

In other thefts

• John Shelley, 800 block David Newton Road, reported Thursday the theft of two Heritage Arms revolver pistols, a Baikal double-barrel shotgun, Marlin semi-automatic rifle and a Winshester pump shotgun with a total value of $728.

Shelley told police that all of the guns were taken from his residence while he was in the hospital except for one of the revolvers, which was stolen out of his 2011 Dodge Ram 1500.

• Enrique Cordova, 2200 block Sylvester Drive, reported Thursday that a male acquaintance he let stay at his residence for two days took a pair of Georgia boots and American Eagle Jeans.

Cordova estimated the value of his stolen property at $60.

• Stephen Grantham, 1300 block Fairview Drive, reported Thursday the theft of a box containing items valued at $350 to $500.

• Randy Ledbetter, 2400 block Fifth Avenue Southeast, reported Thursday the theft of a wallet and contents with a total value of $6.

• Justin Craig 28, Tifton, reported Thursday the theft of property valued at $458 while he was in the 600 block of Veterans Parkway North.

Moultrie Police

• Orelvis Figueora, 26, 1127 10th St. S.E., was charged Thursday with driving while license suspended, expired vehicle tag and no insurance.

• Hortencia Aguilar-Velazquez, 33, 1311 Overlook Drive, was charged Thursday with failure to stop for stop sign and no driver’s license.

• Sedrick Obrian James, 32, 610 11th Court S.E., was charged Wednesday with interference with a 911 call and criminal trespass.

• John Robert Cross, 38, 200 S. Vandenburg Drive, was charged Thursday with possession of marijuana and possession of drugs or weapon by an inmate.

• Belinda Carroll Jackson, 43, 1651 Funston-Sale City Road, was charged Wednesday with one count of felony forgery and four counts misdemeanor deposit account fraud.

Battery

Moultrie Police

• Najah Mumgro, 400 block Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, reported Thursday that a male acquaintance slapped her and took her phone, cigarettes and tablet computer.

Mumgro told police that when the man began kicking her door she let him in rather than have the door damaged, and that after he came in an argument turned physical.

Carl Edmunds, 25, told police that while at Mumgro’s residence speaking with a male friend Mumgro ordered him to get out and after an argument ensued he left. Mumgro got in front of him as he was trying to walk out of the door and when he tried to move her out of the way they got into an altercation.

Edmunds told police that Mumgro was hit while they were tussling. He denied taking Mumgro’s possessions.

Due to conflicting stories police were unable to determine who initiated the incident.

Property damage

Moultrie Police

• Ruben Zavala, 1000 block Second Street Southeast, reported Thursday that a female acquaintance damaged his back door and window.

Zavala told police that some of the woman’s possessions were in the residence, but that he had told her that he would allow her to retrieve them when he returned home.

Nothing was taken, he told police.

The woman was not at Zavala’s residence when they arrived.

Sheriff’s Office

• Linda Sands, 6000 block Thigpen Trail, reported Thursday that her brother’s grave stone was damaged at Deep Bottom Cemetery, Norman Park.

Sands told police that the stone previously had been damaged and repaired.

• Elizabeth Rodriguez, 1700 block Fourth Street Southeast, reported Wednesday that the driver’s side of her 2002 Ford Explorer was scratched while parked in the 300 block of Veterans Parkway North.

• Dorothy Weaver, 200 block Norris Drive, reported Wednesday that during the night someone broke the tail light of her 2003 Cadillac SLS, flattened all four tires and painted a vulgar word on it.

Weaver told police that her mail box also had been pulled out of the ground and damaged.
