Playing against struggling Munroe teams, the Warriors dominated both games, with the girls taking a 58-17 win and the boys securing a 45-14 victory Thursday night at Joe and Mary Beverly Athletic Center.

The game started slow for Brookwood’s girls in the first three minutes, but they capitalized on three straight turnovers from the Bobcats to take a 6-0 lead with 5:10 left in the first. Munroe was having trouble getting out of their half of the court at times, and just could not make the shots and get the rebounds necessary to keep up. The Warriors extended their early lead to 13-0 after the first of Erin Lewis’ three made shots from behind the arc.

Munroe scored its first two points on a layup with 30 seconds left in the first, but Brookwood was in full control up 15-2 at the first break.

Mollie Vick helped break the game open for the Warriors, scoring 11 points in the second, and Brookwood led with a commanding 39-4 advantage going into the locker room.

The onslaught continued in the second half, with Lewis adding her third 3 of the game as the Warriors took a 55-9 lead headed into the final period, and eventually the easy win.

The lopsided score allowed some bench players to get a little bit of game action. Hannah Jones, who is new to the sport, scored the first three points of her career on a layup in the third and a made free throw in the fourth. All but one player on the team scored at least once, with Vick leading Brookwood with 13 points on the night. Martha Grace Dixon and Jordan Thompson each collected seven points.

The boys began their game in similar fashion, with Christopher Watt and Kyle Ostrom contributing four points each to help the Warriors jump out to a 12-0 lead at the end of one quarter.

Noah Owens came off the bench in the second to put up eight points, with the Warriors allowing a single point off a made free throw in the entire first half, for a 27-1 lead at halftime. Brookwood eventually pulled all its starters and rode its substantial lead to the win.
