Man charged with battery on officer

JASPER, Fla. — A Jasper man was arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a HCSO report, a Jasper Police Department officer made a traffic stop on 2nd Avenue. The driver was Cedric Dimaggio Martin, 38, of Jasper.
The report states Martin had an active warrant and a HCSO deputy made contact with Martin at the traffic stop.
According to the report, when the deputy attempted to handcuff Martin, he started fighting and hitting the officers.
The HCSO report said Martin started to run and a deputy tasered him.
According to the report, only one prong hit Martin and did not deliver the full effect.
Deputies caught up with Martin and placed him under arrest.
The report states one officer was elbowed in the eye and had minor abrasions and bruising to the knee and elbow.
The deputy found 10 grams of synthetic cannabis and one gram of crack cocaine near Martin’s car and three more grams of synthetic cannabis in Martin’s car, according to the report.
Martin was charged with aggravated battery on law enforcement officer, battery on law enforcement officer, resisting officer with violence, marijuana possession, cocaine possession with intent to sell and synthetic narcotic possession with intent to sell.
