Tifton man charged with murder

UPDATE: At approximately 4:30 p.m., Jordan Dekimbre Lester turned himself in to the Tift County Sheriff’s Office where he was booked in to the jail on the outstanding murder warrant. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Tift County Sheriff’s office are still asking anyone with information regarding this investigation to please contact them at the numbers at the end of the original article.
TIFTON — A Christmas Day shooting ended in the death of the victim and murder charges for a Tifton man, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation press release.
Jordan Dekimbre Lester, 21, of Tifton, has been charged in the murder of Jamie Roshaun Carithers, 25, also of Tifton, the release states.
At approximately 3:08 p.m. on Christmas Day, Tift County deputies responded to the Bermuda Street area in response to reported gunshots, according to the release.
Deputies found Carithers suffering from a gunshot wound, the release states.
Carithers was transported to Macon Hospital where he died the following day, according to the release.
The shooting occurred in the 300 block of Bermuda Street, the release states.
Law enforcement officers are currently searching for Lester.
