Suspect in Whataburger shooting arrested

THOMASVILLE — A suspect in the recent shooting at the Whataburger parking lot was arrested Sunday night.
Kemarreom Deshud Bryant, aka K.D., 18, 220 Covington Ave. Apt. 10, was arrested in connection with the shooting around 8:49 p.m.
Jontae Rashe Scott, 626 Leak St, also was arrested. According to Lt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator, it is believed Scott was driving Bryant back and forth from Thomasville to Tallahassee, Florida.
Watkins added two females were detained and later released in connection with the arrest.
After the arrest, an AK-47 assault rifle was recovered in connection to the Dec. 17 shooting.
According to Watkins, two other weapons and individuals are involved in the shooting.
Bryant is charged with five counts of aggravated assault.
The number of charges could increase as each person both outside and inside of Whataburger at the time of the incident could be considered a victim, Watkins added.
Scott is charged with hindering apprehension or punishment of criminal and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
All charges against both individuals are felony charges.
The arrest was made by Thomas County Sheriff’s Office deputies with assistance from the Thomasville Police Department canine unit.
