Both Packer cager clubs 9-0

MORROW – Colquitt County High’s girls basketball team improved to 9-0 Wednesday defeating North Clayton 54-41 to begin the Peachstate Shootout at Clayton State University.

Diamond Hall did a double-double Wednesday with 20 points and 11 rebounds. There were also six steals and five assists in her game, Williams calling her play “all over the place.” Za’Nautica Downs led the Lady Packers with 21 points to go with four rebounds. Point guard Akia Sutton had four assists, and forward Kiarra Lovett had five points and four boards. The team went 8-for-11 from the foul line.

VALDOSTA – Taking on a top 5 team from Florida’s largest classification, Colquitt County High’s boys basketball team outlasted West Orange High of Winter Garden 58-51 at the Big South Shootout held at Lowndes High. That means Andy Harden’s Packers went 3-0 in three days there to raise their record to 9-0.

“We got after them on defense,” said Harden. “We had a plan and were locked in. We’re growing up as a team … playing with confidence, relaxed.”

Cam Singletary had 18 points from the floor, 22 in all. DaNas Andrews had 14 points and was the leader in rebounds. Quentin Dopson scored seven and Tyrese King six.
