Multiple arrests in Colquitt County raids

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Dozens of local and regional law enforcement officers assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation fanned out over the county on Tuesday morning in an operation that resulted in multiple arrests.

Police did not release any information on Tuesday about the raids. They did however say that multiple arrests were made and that those suspects were being processed at the jail in Colquitt County.

Officers executed search warrants at a number of locations, beginning at 5 a.m.

Officials told The Observer that the GBI will release a statement about the round-up. The agency did not send a statement on Tuesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, the parking lot at Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office was filled with cars and trucks from multiple counties. Police from Moultrie and Thomasville were seen at that location, as well as officers from Lowndes County and elsewhere.

A number of GBI agents also were at the scene.

The Observer received reports that raids were made on Sylvester Drive and at a residence near the Moultrie YMCA, but officials did not confirm any locations involved in the operation.
