DALTON, Ga. — A LaFayette, Ga., man who died in a single-car wreck in Dalton Monday morning was likely texting at the time of the wreck, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Cpl. E. Tommy Bonaparte said Richard Anthony Morgan, 36, was driving a 2003 Honda Civic on Haig Mill Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and the car left the road and struck a tree. Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bonaparte said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors. But Morgan was not wearing a seat belt, and the trooper who investigated the wreck found Morgan’s cellphone and upon examining it saw that he appeared to have been in the middle of a text conversation at the time of the wreck.
