VALDOSTA, Ga. — Early voting began this week for the run-off election for the Democratic candidate in the Lowndes County coroner race.

Brad Carter and John Hogan are the two candidates seeking to be the Democratic candidate for coroner.

Neither Carter nor Hogan received the necessary 50 percent plus one vote required to be the chosen candidate during the May primary election.

Carter received about 43 percent of the Democratic vote in Lowndes County. Hogan received about 37 percent. The Democratic primary for coroner also included candidate John Gates. Run-off races include only the two top vote-getters in a given race.

Either Carter or Hogan will face Austin Fiveash, the Republican candidate for coroner, in the November general election.
