Deepest gratitude from Pullen family

As immediate family members and/or descendants, we wish to thank everyone at Pebble Hill Plantation that had a role in preparing for the recent exhibition opening and reception in honor of Gene Pullen, known as the resident master carver for Elisabeth Ireland Poe, whose works are housed at various locations on the plantation where he carved years ago. The well-attended exhibit was a very special tribute to my late grandfather, which included an excellent representation of his carvings and other memorabilia. Having an exceptional eye for detail, Gene Pullen would have appreciated all of the effort and attention to detail that went into the exhibit, but would have shied away from any recognition.
In accord with Ms. Pansy’s intentions for Pebble Hill Plantation becoming a museum and open to the public following her death in December 1978, we commend the board and Wallace Goodman, the director (his predecessor, Sue White), Main House Museum Manager Whitney White and Head Docent Lori Curtis, for their outstanding endeavors in being good stewards of PHP, in keeping alive the essence of a by-gone era and making PHP available and accessible to everyone in our community and surrounding areas, including worldwide travelers and dignitaries. Pebble Hill Plantation is a priceless gem; may Ms. Pansy’s legacy to all of us continue to thrive for many more generations to come.
Sincerely and with deepest gratitude from all of the family of Gene Pullen that include his son, C.E. Pullen and his daughter, Margaret Pullen Ridolfi, it has been a privilege to have our own personal connection with Pebble Hill Plantation. Thank you for the honor of this special tribute to Gene Pullen, master carver.
