MOULTRIE, Ga. — A Moultrie native who shot a music video at a Moultrie church in March will return this week to hold a clinic to show others in the community how to get their foot in the door of the entertainment industry.
Sh’Aunta Moore will bring experts in the fields of acting, singing, script writing, music engineering, production, photography and videography. Their workshop will be held 5-8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Hampton Inn, 441 Hampton Way.
Moore, of Oceanei Productions in Atlanta, said the clinic’s purpose is to teach local residents how to present themselves to get a job in the entertainment industry.
“Right now, you can have all this talent and not know what to do with it,” she said.
Included will be professional photographs — “The type of stuff it takes to open doors in this industry,” she said.
Registration costs $10. Moore said she encourages everyone interested to come out; they’re looking for youth, young adults “and the young-at-heart,” she said.
But Moore said the project won’t stop when the clinic closes out Tuesday evening. She plans an event every three months to build momentum, helping the people in her hometown to find a way to improve themselves. In between those big, quarterly events, she hopes to sponsor smaller activities every two weeks.
The project, which she has dubbed “#I Am Moultrie,” came into being as a result of several high-profile acts of violence in the community.
“The high crime rate is because there really isn’t much to do,” she said, and she hopes this clinic will open doors and give hope to some members of the community who might otherwise get into trouble.
