Fisher: FSU will not participate in satellite camps this summer

Florida State will not host or participate in any satellite camps this summer.

Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher said last month that top programs such as his “can’t afford not to” go to satellite camps and was seriously evaluating the prospects of either hosting or attending a camp away from FSU.

However, Fisher stated Friday after his football camp that FSU would not be affiliated with any satellite camps.

“We satellite right here in Tallahassee,” Fisher said.

To Fisher’s point, the Seminoles attracted dozens of college-level players to the prep camp this week. Players who attended the camp, either as participants or visiting recruits, included the following:

— Five-star cornerback Stanford Samuels III, who committed to FSU Thursday.

— Five-star running back Cam Akers of Mississippi.

— Five-star offensive lineman Calvin Ashley, a Central Florida prospect.

— 2020 Connecticut QB Drew Pyne, who has a scholarship offer from FSU.
