THOMASVILLE — A “notorious meth manufacturer” wanted on two outstanding warrants was captured Wednesday after a high-speed chase through Grady and Thomas counties, according to Captain Steve Clark of the Grady County Sheriff’s Office.
Eric Houston was convicted in Grady County in 2010 for manufacturing methamphetamine and was wanted for felony violation of probation and misdemeanor obstruction.
According to Clark, Houston fled to Tennessee about 30-45 days ago.
On Wednesday morning, the sheriff’s office received a tip that Houston was coming back to Grady County and was given a description of his car. Around 11 a.m., a sheriff’s deputy spotted the car on Ga. Hwy111. When the deputy went to stop him, Houston took off, heading north.
“As they say, the chase was on,” said Clark.
The deputy chased Houston on Ga. Hwy 111 and down little side roads near Spence. Houston then headed north again on Ga. Hwy. 11 through Meigs and then south on U.S. 19.
According to Clark, speeds topped 100 mph at times.
At some point Houston made a U-turn, headed north on U.S. 19 and was stopped by the Grady County deputy. He is now facing new charges of fleeing and eluding ,and two charges of failure to stop at stop sign.
“No one was hurt during the chase, luckily,” said Clark.
