Willie Charles Lawrence Dixon

Willie Charles Lawrence Dixon was born on Aug. 18, 1929, to his parents, John Arthur Johns and Ethel Mae McCraw, in Meigs. At an early age, he became a member of the Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by both parents, four sisters and one brother. He attended school in Meigs. He was employed by Sunnyland Meatpacking Corp. for many years. He was known as Lawrence to his friends and loved ones and loved fishing and sang in a male gospel quartet. Mr. Dixon departed his earthly home on Tuesday morning March 15, 2016, at the home of his son, Matthew Jones, of Atlanta. He leaves to cherish his memory sons, Charles (Linda) Jones, Atlanta, Matthew Jones, Atlanta, Dexter Jones Sr., Orlando, Florida; daughters, Shelby Bryant, Dinah Foreste, Orlando, Florida; two sisters, Sadie Boston, Pelham, Mineola McCraw, Orlando, Florida; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives. Services will be Saturday March 26, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church, 3065 Collins St., Meigs. The Rev. Ryan Jenkins, pastor, and the Rev. Bobby Ray Simmons, of Atlanta, will officiate. Burial will follow at Meigs Sunset Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 169 Palmer Road, Meigs, at 10 a.m. for the processional. Viewing will be Friday March 25, 2016, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Hadley’s Funeral Home. — Hadley’s Funeral Home
