THOMASVILLE — A rural area near Pavo was struck three times Wednesday with daytime burglaries.
Items valued at thousands of dollars were taken.
“All of the residences were close to her outside of Pavo,” said Capt. Steven Jones, Thomas County sheriff’s Office public information officer.
A door was pried open to gain entry to a house in the 1200 block of Salem Road. Items taken included a flat-screen TV, a sound system, a handgun and power and hand tools — with a total value of as much as $2,000.
Jewelry, a flat-screen TV and three handguns, with a total value of $5,000, were taken from a house in the 2100 block of Ga. 188.
A burglar alarm sounded at a house in the 200 block of Antioch Church Road, but burglars were gone when sheriff’s deputies arrived.
Taken from the Antioch Church residence were a DVD player, a radio, flat-screen TV and power hand tools, including a chain saw. Doors on two sheds behind the house were pried open.
“It appears it may have been the work of the same person or people,” Jones said.
Leon County, Florida, was “slammed” with rural daytime burglaries Thursday, Jones explained.
He said a Leon County woman arrived at home and saw two men standing in her living room. The men fled, and the woman was not hurt.
