Mustian to share history of Archbold

THOMASVILLE — Pebble Hill Plantation and the Thomas County Public Library are pleased to announce the upcoming Enlightening Bites program on Friday at noon in the Flipper Room of the library. J. Perry Mustian will discuss Archbold’s history — people, technology and growth — and a will talk about where health care is headed in the future.

Mustian was named president and CEO of John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital in April 2007. In July 2008, he was given the additional role of president and CEO of Archbold Medical Center, the parent organization for the Archbold system which includes four community hospitals, four nursing homes and home health, hospice and other facilities in Grady, Mitchell and Brooks counties.

Mustian earned a master’s degree in health administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations at the University of Florida. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders. Mustian is a board member with VHA Georgia. He serves as a board member with the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals, Stratus (a network of not-for-profit hospitals in central and south Georgia) and the Southwest GA Research and Education Consortium. He also serves on the boards of directors of the Thomasville-Thomas County Chamber of Commerce and Thomas University. He is a graduate of Leadership Thomasville 2000 and Leadership Tallahassee 1990. He also is a member of the Thomasville Rotary Club and of First Presbyterian Church, where he is an elder.Archbold Medical Center is a four-hospital, three nursing-home system with 540 beds. It employs more than 2,500 people and boasts an outstanding medical staff of more than 160 qualified specialists. The flagship hospital is John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, with 264 beds. The system hospitals, also in Georgia, are Brooks County Hospital in Quitman, Grady General Hospital in Cairo and Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla.

The Enlightening Bites Lecture Series, which occurs on the first Friday of each month from September through May, is co-sponsored by Pebble Hill Plantation and the Thomas County Public Library. Attendees are invited to bring their lunch. Drinks are provided. The series is free and open to the public.
